Some of the most important mixing decisions involve changes so small they barely register on a meter. A vocal comes forward with a 0.5 dB fader move. A snare suddenly sits perfectly after a tiny level adjustment. A subtle EQ cut removes harshness without making the source sound dull.
How can such a small numerical change have such a noticeable effect?
The answer lies in how human hearing responds to differences rather than absolute values.
The Smallest Audible Changes Matter
